Torsby
Torsby
The house rests on a foundation of black concrete plinths and is characterized by its wood feeling that is enhanced by the nearby trees. Its dark timber exterior interacts naturally with the surroundings and the high ceiling and large windows facing in all direction makes the house very spacious.
Located in the Stockholm Archipelago is this hilly plot with its pine trees and bilberries. It has a dramatic topography with the main building resting on a ridge next to a ravine.
The house is mainly built of lightweight concrete, and the upper part of the facade is clad in wood paneling painted with Falun Red paint from the Falun copper mine in Dalarna. The color is traditionally red, and has been used on homes and barns since the 1600s, but for Villa Torsby we instead chose an earthy black color that creates better harmony with the environment.
